INTRODUCTION: This paper aims to verify and evaluate relevant scientific productions on the implementation of mindfulness in the treatment of patients with substance use disorders. METHOD: A literature selection was performed through the PubMed and LILACS databases to develop the integrative literature review through six distinct steps. RESULTS: From 391 texts found, free of filters, in both databases, 18 articles were selected for analysis after the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This total of selected articles were divided into four categories: 1) Comparison of effectiveness between interventions based on Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Therapy; 2) Result of the convergence between Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; 3) Mindfulness training in opioid users with chronic pain; 3.1) The benefits of dispositional mindfulness in opioid users; 4) Mindfulness as a relapse prevention. CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrates in its findings the efficacy of mindfulness, especially in the management of fissure and in the prevention of relapses. This approach plays an important role in maintaining long-term treatment.
