Abstract

FIGUEIREDO, Maria Henriqueta. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and promotion of marital satisfaction: an integrative review. Rev. bras.ter. cogn. [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.1, pp. 16-22. ISSN 1808-5687.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/1808-5687.20210003.

Marital satisfaction is characterized by the perception of members of the dyad relative to satisfaction in the relationship. It integrates the pattern of communication, sexuality, time spent together, among other specific aspects of the couple, as a transformative unit. Conflicts, as a result of relational continuity, often require, the development of therapeutic approaches of cognitive behavioral intervention, conservation or reconquest of marital satisfaction. A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aimed at a cognitive and behavioral relationship has been used in a wide variety of situations, including changes in the satisfactory marital relationship. In order to map the existing knowledge about the use of CBT in the promotion of marital satisfaction, an integrative review was carried out, using the following EBSCO Databases: Medline; Cinhal; MedicLatina and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. The seven primary studies published in the last 10 years, which met the predefined inclusion criteria, demonstrate that a CBT is used to promote marital satisfaction, in its various aspects. The results of its application show levels of effectiveness, suggesting the importance of its expansion in this area, within the clinical experimentation of the various techniques and methods used.
