Abstract

WINOGRAD, Monah. Thinking matter : the fertility of the encounter between psychoanalysis and neuroscience. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2004, vol.56, n.1, pp. 21-34. ISSN 1809-5267.

Psychoanalysis and neuroscience: in spite of the refusal of some scholars, the dialogue between these two fields is developing in a fertile manner. Our objective is to highlight new facts that stimulate this dialogue and to illustrate the possibility of this encounter by examining current research on this issue. In doing so, we intend to examine new possibilities opened by the the contributions put forth by both fields and examine their unfoldings without reducing each field to the other. On the contrary, their specificities are to be maintained while the respective isolation of each field is called into question. The beneficiaries of this move are those who find the need to turn to "medicines of the mind" due to their suffering.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Neuroscience; Brain; Thought.
