Abstract

FROTA, Ana Maria. The reinstallation of oneself: a phenomenological trajectory of adolescence from a Winnicottian reading. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2006, vol.58, n.2, pp. 51-66. ISSN 1809-5267.

This paper aims to reflect on adolescence as a phenomenon that appears in human development. It discusses adolescence from a phenomenological approach, from a Winnicottian reading. The paper defends the thesis that adolescence may be understood as an existential period which makes possible the reinstallation of oneself. Winnicott considers the process of self awareness as the child’s psych birth, that is, as his insertion in the world. This paper proposes the understanding of a healthy adolescence as a crucial period which allows for a new self awareness. In this period the displacements are remarkable; this fact facilitates a new self awareness which is made possible but is not determined by adolescence self.
