Abstract

This article presents the children´s relationship with parents, at the passage to adult´s life, through the Titans and Olympus creation´s myth, drawing the historic-cultural process brought into play at generation´s succession. Focusing the identity - alterity´s dynamic along the family conflict´s unrolling, it underlines the close interlace between psychological development, culture and social life. It paints a way of transforming this conflict until arriving to the mutual recognition and the opening of the personal, familiar and public space. Trying to recuperating myth´s contribution to the wholeness of language´s meaning, at contemporary world, it puts together the philosophical and psychological efforts to deepen the symbolic language used by myth to express the parents and children´s conflict. It draws the radical transformation of the children´s universe and the difficulties to cross to the adults´ world, to accede to the parents´ positions, and to enter to the polis´ life. It analyzes the problem of transgression and the dark and obscure side of this conflict, indicating the possibilities of its transformations.
