Abstract

The purpose of this study was to verify the existence of association between the dimensions of Burnout Syndrome and confronting strategies in municipal school teachers from an urban area of a north coastland city from Rio Grande do Sul. As research instrument it was used the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Scale COPE - Confronting Strategies and a questionnaire of social demographic and labour for a characterization of the sample. An aleatory sample with proportionality criterion was made with 93 teachers. The obtained results through the proof of correlation of Pearson reveal that as bigger the use of confronting strategies of moderated coping, emotional support, focus on emotion and mental unattached, bigger is the feeling of Emotional Exhaustion. And as bigger the use of active coping, smaller is the feeling of depersonalization. Using active coping, seek emotional support and to make positive reinterpretation of the stressed situations increase the feeling of professional accomplishment.
