Abstract

MAHEIRIE, Kátia et al. Musical composition and processes of subjectivities among suburban young people. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.60, n.2, pp. 187-197. ISSN 1809-5267.

As part of this research-intervention project, we focused on the music performance of young people living in a poor suburb of Florianopolis, in the course of an arts workshop. We could then state some characteristics from these young people’s creation process. Our purpose was to run a community extension project in order to increase people’s power of action in a greater process of finding out new possibilities and future perspectives. The workshop was attended by ten young individuals and the aim here was to understand the meaning they associated into artistic creation, as part of the existential project designed by each of them. By teaching music and managing a variety of artistic expressions in the performances, we dealt with musical knowledge, situations of creative objectiveness, cohesion in the group as well as self-confidence in this workshop.
