Abstract

LINS, Samuel Lincoln Bezerra; NUNES, Aline Vieira de Lima  and  VASCONCELO, Isabel. Emotions experienced in households scale. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.62, n.2, pp. 156-168. ISSN 1809-5267.

Aiming to help professionals and researchers to investigate emotions in a familiar environment, this study observed indices of factorial validity and internal consistency of the Familiar Affective Well-Being Scale (by adapting items from the Job-Related Affective Well-Being Scale). To this end, the sample included 302 college students, mean age 23 years and 59.6% female. Using a principal components analysis (Varimax rotation), it was showed two factors, Family Negative and Family Positive, which showed acceptable Cronbach's alphas to psychometric standards. Factors correlated in the expected direction to acceptance, identification and importance attributed to family by individual, but did not show significant differences according to gender or age. It is, therefore, that BEAF is presented as an appropriate scale to measure the emotional context of family environment.
