Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze the contents and structure of social representation of one university programs for seniors (UnATIs), from the look of older people. The sample consisted of 138 elderly people attending the UnATI-UERJ. Data collection was performed using the technique of free association, from the inductive stimulus - “UnATI”, and analysis by four-house board technique. Was counted with the aid of software EVOC. The results suggest that there is a very positive representation of this university programs for older people, that this representation is based on hegemonic moral values in society such as knowledge and learning but also highlights its social function leading to the establishment of ties of friendship, unity, joy, appreciation of the elderly and social integration.
