The objective of this research was to find evidence of validity based on the relationship with external variables for Escala Baptista de Depressão (Versão Infanto-Juvenil)- EBADEP-IJ with Inventário de Percepção do Suporte Familiar (IPSF), the Escala de Percepção do Suporte Social (EPSUS), besides the use of theChildren's Depression Inventory(CDI) as an auxiliary measure. Wereparticipants in the study, 241 students,167 (69.3%) females, aged 8to 17 years(M =14.0,SD = 2.4), public schools in a city in the interior of state of São Paulo. Participants answered collectively in the classroom to a questionnaire followed by identification EBADEP-IJ or the CDI and the IPSF and EPSUS. The results indicated that a moderate/high correlation to EBADEP-IJ/CDI with IPSF and low/moderate and negative between EBADEP-IJ/CDI and EPSUS. We found evidence of validity based on the relationship with external variables to EBADEP-IJ.
