Resumen

FORTES, Leonardo de Sousa  y  FERREIRA, Maria Elisa Caputo. Inappropriate eating behavior: comparisons according to commitment to exercise. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.65, n.2, pp. 230-242. ISSN 1809-5267.

The aim of this study was to compare attributes of inappropriate eating behaviors (IEB) according to the degree of psychological commitment to exercise (DPCE) between athletes of both sexes 580 subjects aged between 10 and 19 years were participants. We used the subscales of the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) and Commitment Exercise Scale (CES) to assess the attributes IEB and DPCE, respectively. The results showed differences in the subscale "Diet" DPCE second both sexes (p<0,05). However, only among boys the post hoc Bonferroni test showed a difference in the subscale "Bulimia and Preoccupation with Food" DPCE between the groups (p<0,05). Finally, there were no statistically significant differences for the subscale "Self Control Oral", both for females and males. It was concluded that the pathological food restriction was more common in athletes with high DPCE for both sexes, which was not reflected in the other attributes of the IEB.
