Abstract

Interdisciplinary qualitative analysis of the transexual and transvestite  universe from literary Grande Sertão Veredas and Triunfo dos pelos. Uses theoretical psychosocial gender studies and the categories of identity, meaning and significance. Analysis - the characters Diadorim and Transexual Without a Name - highlights the meanings in transexuality and transgenderism in social and historical experiences. Diadorim  adopts a masculine identity as a form of acceptance in the world of the cangaço. The character Transexual without a Name reveals a descriptive and moving identity experience, the body experiences the transexuality as relational productions in a context permeated by the meanings of binary concerning man and woman are shared culturally and historically.
