Abstract

NAIFF, Luciene Alves Miguez; FERREIRA, Maria Cristina  and  NAIFF, Denis Giovani Monteiro. Professional well-being of teachers in public schools and private organizations. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.65, n.2, pp. 288-303. ISSN 1809-5267.

The present study is based on the theory of social representations. This theory states that the production of collective meanings will grant the social group an identity and influence their perceptions and actions. The research has identified and compared social representations of 108 teachers, from which, 54 are from the public sector and 54 from the private sector. The main objective was to identify differences in perception on well being according to the peculiarities of each sector. The results have shown that social representations on well being do not vary considerably. Both groups have highlighted that respect and appreciation are deeply correlated to well-being.

Keywords : Social representations; Education; Well-being.
