Abstract

SANTOS, Lucas Nápoli dos. Unorthodox, but current: a dialogue between Winnicott and Groddeck. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.65, n.3, pp. 470-486. ISSN 1809-5267.

The aim of this paper is to establish some points of contact between the thought of Georg Groddeck and Donald Woods Winnicott. To this end, it was conducted a theoretical and conceptual study based in the texts of both authors and commentators. The hypothesis underlying this research is that the dialogue between these authors is an undertaking not only possible but also fruitful. It appears that (1) both authors admit body and psyche as dimensions of the same reality and not as two different essences, (2) perceive the illness as a way to return to earlier stages of development and (3) see nature as a living force and directed to health. Such points of confluence between the authors meet the new demands for reform of the modes of assistance and health care that are emerging from the perception of exhaustion of the traditional medical model organicist (biomedicine).

Keywords : Winnicott; Groddeck; Health; Illness; Body.
