Abstract

CARVALHO, Lauriston Araújo  and  ESPINDULA, Daniel Henrique Pereira. Dryness's voices: representations of transposition São Francisco river. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.66, n.1, pp. 135-151. ISSN 1809-5267.

In 1847 the project about the transposition of the São Francisco River is materialized. Its resumption in 2004 causes a huge repercussion in the media and civil society, which follows the steps of the project. This study aimed to understand the Social Representations of the Transposition of the waters of the São Francisco River at two newspapers from Pernambuco, Gazzeta and Jornal do Comércio, in 2004 and 2005. The data was analyzed for the Theme analysis of Bardin. The results show the geographical location and proximity to the river, as determining factors in the form and presentation of content. While Gazzeta Journal anchors the discussion on the livelihoods of coastal communities and presents images of this interaction with the river, the Jornal do Commercio is anchored in depicting the theme economic issues. The newspapers have diffusion characteristics and keep the same representation on the transposition with taking position against the project, it would be the "salvation of the Northeast''
