Abstract

This paper analyzes the relationship between the career exploration processes, academic adjustment, and personality, in order to identify career profiles. Participated 115 students, 72 women and 43 men, attending the 1st cycle of the Portuguese higher education. Were applied the Career Exploration Survey, the Academic Adjustment Questionnaire and The Revised NEO Personality Inventory, and two different career activity and experience profiles were identified. The conformist profile shows negative levels beliefs, behaviors and reactions to career exploration, as well as, in all dimensions of academic adjustment, with positive results in Extraversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness and Openness to experience. In contrast, the constructive profile presents positive levels in all aspects of exploration and academic adjustment, and the Conscientiousness factor also with positive results.
