Abstract

The aim of this article was to know the experience and practices of Psychology professionals in Brazil, concerning to sexual abuse situations against children and adolescents. 95 bachelors in Psychology who had the experience in sexual abuse evaluations participated (86.3% female). The participants were from all over the country and they were selected from a Snow Ball procedure. They answered an online survey questionnaire. The results indicated that the psychology professionals have qualification and they feel qualified to evaluating and treating their cases. They feel proficient in the sexual abuse theme, however, some specific subtopics related to sexual abuse are not known yet and new instruments are not being used. The majority of these professionals have already sent documents to the justice system. They also consider their role as relevant for the case. Repercussions and possible applications of these results are discussed.
