Resumen

BISINOTO, Cynthia  y  MARINHO-ARAUJO, Claisy. School Psychology in Higher Education: Practice Overview in Brazil. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.67, n.2, pp. 33-46. ISSN 1809-5267.

This study mapped the Psychology Services of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions and the work performed by school psychologists. In all 87 identified services, most school psychologists belong to a multidisciplinary team. They aim their actions mainly at students, eventually interacting with other educational agents. Alongside traditional practices of counseling and referring students, there are also emerging practices such as welcoming freshmen, supporting course coordinators, hosting formative workshops, keeping up with former graduates and performing institutional assessment. The diversified set of practices shows that school psychologists' activities are shifting from a clinical-therapeutic model to a more preventive and institutional one in nature. A practice model capable of guiding the structuring and functioning of Psychology Services may ensure greater consistency in the implementation of different interventions.

Palabras clave : School Psychology; Higher Education; Emerging Practices; Practice Model.
