Abstract

AYRES, Lygia Santa Maria. Adoption and television media: the soap operas Amor à Vida in analysis. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.68, n.3, pp. 92-109. ISSN 1809-5267.

Taking the Brazilian soap operas as a stage of analysis, we seek in this text to problematize the discourses/practices in the soap operas aired on Globo Television in the years 2013/2014 related to the adoption of children and adolescents. Considering that media, especially television, can make objects circulate, influencing the behavior of millions of people, dictating and affirming ways of doing things, thinking and consuming, and observing that in recent years the issue of adoption appeared regularly in screens, the discussion of this issue is justified and present. Our universe of analysis was the soap opera Amor à vida (Love of life), broadcasted during prime time from May 2013 to January 2014. Anchored in the contributions of Foucault, Guattari and Bourdieu we let the subjectivities produced by that institution regarding modes of parenting and adoption affect us. We found that the adoption through National Register was the modality stimulated at the expense of other practices.
