Abstract

SILVA, Andressa Melina Becker da et al. Adaptation and internal structure of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory (CSAI-2) for dancers. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.69, n.1, pp. 19-32. ISSN 1809-5267.

Anxiety is a state of alert characterized by physical symptoms and insecurity. In the sporting context, it is evaluated by the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory (CSAI-2), not validated for dancing. This study adapted and validated the Brazilian version of the CSAI-2 for dancers and verified evidences of content validity and the internal structure of the instrument. The CSAI-2 was answered by 261 Brazilian adolescent dancers with a mean age of 14.73 years (± 1.82), individually or in groups, in national and international dance festivals. After factor analysis, the version for dancers (CSAI-2-Dance; α = 0.84) had 26 items, organized into two factors: Anxiety and Self-confidence. The CSAI-2-Dance showed psychometric properties similar to the version for athletes, but with different component factors of the original model due to the specificities of the dance.
