Abstract

DIMENSTEIN, Magda et al. Social determination of mental health: contributions to psychology on territorial care. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.69, n.2, pp. 72-87. ISSN 1809-5267.

The aim of this work is to bring the contribution of the perspective of Social Determination of Health to the production of territorial health care in mental health. This perspective considers that it is essential to identify the history and particularities of the territories, and that the interventions focused on the social and health should be articulated with the conditions of life. Finally it also seeks to contribute with some guiding principles for the psychologist's work within SUS (Unified Health System), starting from a territorial approach in order to favor the technical and ethical-political qualification for accomplishing a culturally sensitive work, wether in the urban context or on the countryside.

Keywords : Mental health; Social determination of health; Territory; Psychology.
