Abstract

KREUZ, Giovana  and  FRANCO, Maria Helena Pereira. The mourning/grief of the elderly on the losses of the disease and aging - Systematic Literature. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.69, n.2, pp. 168-186. ISSN 1809-5267.

Aging is a natural, sequential, individual, cumulative, universal process that may or may not concurrently include illness. The aging process culminates in losses, thus generating grief. This study aims to present a systematic review of the literature on the elderly grief in the aging and disease process, conducted through search of scientific articles published in the VHL (BVS-Bireme). The analyzed articles seek to discuss the multiplicity of values and views about aging and collaborate for the reinterpretation of the concept of old age and the care model, showing that disease and aging are significant losses, with an emphasis on ensuring that such grievances are truly acknowledged and welcomed by health professionals and society.

Keywords : Elderly; Mourning [grief]; Aging; Illness; Systematic review of literature.
