Abstract

From the authors' practice with expertness to the Labor Court of the 3rd Region, the article sets out the regulations of the exercise of the work psychologist in the judiciary. It presents the methodology that has been practiced, inspired in the multidimensional perspective, which includes: psychological interview, expertness hearings, visit to workplaces, mental examination, study of references and epidemiological evidence, interviews with third parties and request of new documents, response to the attached questions, conclusive analysis and elaboration of links amongst mental disorders and work (verification of causal nexus). Finally, it emphasizes the importance of expanding the psychologist's role in elucidating causal links between mental illness and work in the Labor Court, especially from a biopsychosocial approach.
