The study aimed to investigate the social representations of violence and violence prevention for professionals who treat families with violated rights. It also examined how the family is presented in these representations. A manual of technical standards has been analyzed through the Alceste software and thematic content analysis procedure. Violence is seen as violation of rights and impairment of quality of life. Violence prevention is represented as promotion of quality of life through insertion of the user in the service; educational activities; intersectoral approach. The family appears frequently in the representations of violence prevention as beneficiary, mediator, partner and responsible for the teenager, and its meaning varies according to the practices set to which it relates.
