Abstract

CARVALHO, Maria Aparecida Alves Sobreira; DA SILVA, Adriana Alves  and  MELO, Patricia Diógenes de. The Youth Space Project as a practice of the juvenile leadership. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2017, vol.69, n.3, pp. 224-229. ISSN 1809-5267.

The article presents the experience of the extension project called Youth Space carried out in a high school in the city of Sousa and conducted by the Federal Institute of Paraíba. The project's aim was to expand the communication network about the rights of disabled people in the perspective of building an inclusive school and a culture of peace. The methodology favored the formation of 20 students in workshops where information on the rights of disabled people was given and actions related to living with the differences were discussed. The project not only contributed to reconfigure the concepts of disability and youth leadership, but also challenged educators to develop technical competence and pedagogical sensitivity for being able to consider the contradictions of youth participation in school.
