DALTRO, Mônica Ramos; JESUS, Maiara Lourenço Souza de; BOAS, Ligia Marques Vilas  and  CASTELAR, Marilda. Teaching psychology in medicine courses in Brazil. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.70, n.2, pp. 38-48. ISSN 1809-5267.

Psychology has been present in Brazilian medical courses since the nineteenth century. This study investigates how psychology is presented in the medical education, based on the analysis of the curricula available publicly on websites of higher education institutions. This is a documentary analysis with a qualitative approach. The results indicate that the contents of psychology are placed as secondary; referred to in syllabus with reduced working hours or sprayed as subtopics. It reveals a psychology committed to the idea of individual psychism, of mental disorders that do not reach the propositions of the National Guidelines for the training of health professionals that articulate psychology to the idea of promoting health.
