The Pantanal is a region dominated by the waters and challenging by its characteristics. In this difficult access environment the pantaneiro worker is inserted. The present study investigated health and quality of life aspects in these workers. This is an exploratory-descriptive, cross-sectional and sample for convenience study (59 workers from three pantanal farms). Three instruments were applied: Social-demographic-occupational Questionnaire; Health Aspects Status Questionnaire (built for this study) and SF-36. Regarding quality of life, results point to a better evaluation of the Physical Component compared to the Mental one, and worse outcomes in the areas of pain and vitality. These, together with alertness to the patience issue of the health aspects, lead to taking care of the integral health of these workers, and to the need for continuity of studies on this population.
