Abstract

ROMAGNOLI, Roberta Carvalho; NEVES, Claudia Elizabeth Abbês Baeta  and  PAULON, Simone Mainieri. Intersection between policies: Psychology and production of care in public policies. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.70, n.2, pp. 236-250. ISSN 1809-5267.

This paper aims to discuss care in the field of public policies, with special focus on the insertion of psychology in health policies and social assistance. In this sense, this study shows the complexity and tensions that arise in this field as care practices coexist with paradoxical management models: on the one hand, singular practices and processes that insist on the production of autonomy; on the other hand, control practices that sustain life-managing relations of power. From this perspective, it is understood that the State uses neoliberal regulatory strategies to ensure the capitalist functioning. In such way, social inequality, poverty and vulnerability become naturalized. It is concluded that it is important to consider these tensions that are a product of the interface between subjectivity and politics. Thus, the expansion of the scope of psychology to include public policies allows us to affirm care practices in connection with processes that favor the expansion of life.

Keywords : Public policies; Power; Autonomy; Social intervention; Care.
