Abstract

SANTOS, Joelma Cristina  and  CARVALHO-FREITAS, Maria Nivalda de. Professional reinsertion: the work after acquiring a disability. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2018, vol.70, n.3, pp. 184-197. ISSN 1809-5267.

The psychosocial aspects of the reinsertion at work are discussed in this study, which was done based on semi-structured interviews with 10 people who acquired a visual or a physical disability, due to different circumstances, and then went back to the labor market after the incident. Through the content analysis method, it was noticed that the returning to labor was positively faced by the most part of the interviewed people. It was firstly motivated by financial necessity, but then allowed that other perspectives were attributed to work. Beyond that, the reinsertion assumed a greater individual value when the impacts resulted from the disability were bigger than when they demanded less changes in everyday life. Results are considered relevant for purposing ways of (re)insertion in the organizational context based on social and legal aspects and also for promoting an inclusive labor market and a more participating society.
