Abstract

SANTOS, Abrahão de Oliveira et al. Publications in the journals of psychology and race relations. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.72, n.spe, pp. 6-17. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.arbp2020v72s1p.6-17.

This paper deals with articles published in Brazilian journals of psychology about racial relations. The research consisted in the survey of articles that approach the ethnic-racial question and that dialogue with the Brazilian social thought, in the Brazilian journals of psychology, published in strata A1 and A2 of the CAPES Psychology Qualis. A survey was also carried in strata B1, B2 and B3. The study aimed to understand whether the researches recognize the historical and cultural presence of the Afrodescendant population. The results showed that a small percentage of articles in the journals analyzed addresses the black issue by problematizing race relations, which evidences the negligence of the singular living conditions of the black population. This finding is a step to think about a science and profession that affirm the commitment to social urgencies, as is the case of Brazilian psychology.
