Starting from Kabengele Munanga's statement that racism is not based on biological differences, and that it is an ethno-semantic matter, we pinpoint racism as a symptom of discourse and take this conjunction as the backbone that allows Psychoanalysis to approach that issue and address that kind of segregation. Based on the theories of Freud and Lacan, we suggest that racism arises from language and is enhanced by language use. Indeed, in order for the psychoanalyst to be allowed to deal with the subject, it is required to take it as a symptom of social ties, that is to say, a symptom of discourse. Thereby, we discuss how racism in Brazil, veiled, repressed and denied, affects and interferes in the process of subjective constitution of blacks. And, finally, we attempt to show that those which were previously spoken by, deprived from their position of subject, excluded and placed in the position of waste, may come to make a twist out of their own speech and claim for themselves a new position.
