Abstract

SANTOS, Lumena de Aleluia  and  MATTOS, Amana Rocha. "Colonization was very perfect here": African refugees' reflections in Brazil. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.72, n.spe, pp. 170-184. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.arbp2020v72s1p.170-184.

This paper analyzes the subjectivation processes of women with African refugee status in Brazil. For that, it uses the concept of institutional universe of refuge to challenge the debate on the flow of people requesting refuge in the Brazilian context in recent years. It starts from a historical contextualization about race relations in Brazil and from issues of migratory transits as they are configured today in the economic and political agendas to discuss the processes of subjectification of the interlocutors of this research. In this sense, it proposes some reflections on the forms of institutionalization that directly impact on the relations of women from African countries integrated as refugees in Brazilian society, based on semi-structured interviews with two migrant women.

Keywords : Refuge; Migration; Race relations; Subjectivation Processes.
