This paper aims to analyze meanings and meanings of the uses of the internet and social networks, especially WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube, attributed by young people from a low-income community in the city of Cubatão/SP and by participants of the hip-hop movement. We seek to understand how virtual social networks (re) configure the construction of affective and community bonds among young people. This is a qualitative study, with a theoretical reference in Community Social Psychology, which uses online and offline observations, as well as semi-structured interviews with 08 young people and 01 community leadership. The results indicate that the Internet and social networks can favor and make the construction and strengthening of social benefits, friendship and social protection among young people, creating other forms of recognition, possibilities and references for their lives.
