Abstract

SILVA, Jerto Cardoso; MUELLER, Vitor Henrique  and  MORAES, Mariana Hintz. Health teams and the medication of childhood and adolescence. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.73, n.1, pp. 34-51. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.ARBP2021v73i1p.34-51.

This research aims to understand and analyze the experiences and knowledge of the teams of public mental health services that serve children and adolescents about drug treatment. This is a qualitative research, which, through the discourse analysis, analyzes the testimonies and discussions of the teams and, from them, emphasizes that the medication is a social effect produced by several authors such as parents, teachers and health professionals who punctuate the use of medicalization to solve problems that, sometimes, are not of a medical order, but of a social and existential order. Furthermore, they point out the precariousness of resources and non-medical professionals that supply the daily demand, resulting in immediate referrals to drug prescriptions. Thus, this study has the purpose of provoking a reflection that encourages ways of investing in the care's qualification that enhances the qualitative relationship between caregivers and children and adolescents.
