Abstract

MACHADO, Rodrigo de Oliveira  and  PIZZINATO, Adolfo. Authorship and audience relations in graffiti: a dialogical perspective. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.73, n.1, pp. 137-153. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.ARBP2021v73i1p.137-153.

The present article sought to understand the relationships of authorship and audience linked to graffiti in the city of Porto Alegre (Brazil). By understanding the graffiti as a form of appropriation of urban space that is configured as communicational act, supported on a Bakhtinian theoretical perspective and the dialogic self, six taggers and six bystanders were interviewed. Later, the interviews were analyzed through Critical Discourse Analysis. The positions of "I" in the speech of passersby demonstrated monologized discourse on the legal-punitive acts of graffiti. In turn, the taggers showed the emergence of voices on the other, thus assuming a position of alterity front of his act of tagging. The ideologies that support both speeches constituted on generalizations of self-other relationship marked by the conflict of "personal notion of society".

Keywords : Graffiti; Dialogism; Dialogical self.
