Abstract

RUEDA, Fabián Javier Marín  and  OTONI, Fernanda. Human Figure Drawing: proposal for a screening version. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.73, n.2, pp. 128-143. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.ARBP2021v73i2p.128-143.

The Human Figure Drawing is an instrument that assesses intelligence and is closely associated with school performance. Brief correction criteria would make it possible to predict possible learning difficulties even at the beginning of schooling. Thus, this study aimed to verify if with a small number of indicators, it would be possible to obtain a measure of intelligence. For that, 816 children aged between 6 and 10 years (M = 8.30, SD = 1.40) participated. The Rasch model allowed the extraction of 12 indicators that showed to be able to predict 87% of the evaluated construct, and still maintained the difficulty levels easy, medium and difficult. No item differential functioning was found because of gender and the screening version differentiated the performance of children according to age. The results were positive and presented good psychometric indexes. Further studies are expected to seek further evidence of validity for this screening version.
