Abstract

RANGEL, Iasmyn Cerutti  and  MIRANDA, Ana Augusta Wanderley Rodrigues de. The act of playing in the clinic with psychotic children. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.73, n.3, pp. 144-156. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.arbp2021v73i3p.144-156.

Play is universal and brings many benefits to children in general, such as facilitating their growth and interaction with other kids. In addition, play can be used in the psychologist's office as a form of expression and communication of children, including those considered psychotic. In psychosis, there is an absence of symbolic articulation, and the imaginary appears hypertrophied and shattered; therefore, play for psychotic kids appears with much specificity. This article seeks to study, per a theoretical analysis on the subject, what means play for a psychotic child as well as the characteristics and the importance of this in the psychological treatment of psychotic kids.
