Abstract

PIERI, Rodrigo de Vasconcellos  and  FILGUEIRAS, Alberto. Psychometric properties of the Child Sports Cohesion Questionnaire to Brazilian Portuguese. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.73, n.3, pp. 204-216. ISSN 1809-5267.  http://dx.doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.arbp2021v73i3p.204-216.

Sport cohesion is a dynamic process that influences the tendency of team members to remain together until they achieve a goal. To measure task and social sport cohesion among children, the Child Spots Cohesion Questionnaire was developed by Martin et al. in 2012. The present study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Brazilian-adapted version of this instrument. Reliability, validity and factorability were assessed in a sample of 280 children. Reliability was measured by Cronbach's alpha and ranged between 0.80 and 0.87. Convergent validity showed high correlation between the instrument and a visual analogue scale that measured sport cohesion. Latent structure analysis revealed that a bifactor latent structure with a general factor and two independent factors had the best fit of the empirical data. Results support that the Brazilian-adapted version of the Child Spots Cohesion Questionnaire is a good instrument to assess sport cohesion in Brazilian children.
