The scope of this essay is to reflect upon familiar configurations concerning the relationships amongst individual, family and society; besides making some considerations on the role of the psychologist in such context. The contemporary social-historic moment is considered, based on diversity and multiplicity, and tending to intolerance towards differences. Events of intolerance towards differences are recalled, and some questions are proposed, aiming to comprehend the theme. Finally, there is an argument on the kind of attitudes generated in the family and the importance of the sense of belonging into the family and society as a promoter of loving husbandry
