Abstract

This article brings the introductory reflection on the origins and destinations that are being constructed for the Person Centered Approach (PCA) in the brazilian scenario. This paper discusses the paradigms that supported the emergence of the Rogerian theory from the historical context of the modernist project. It makes the analysis of the emergence of humanistic psychology as a third force as opposed to Behaviorism and Psychoanalysis. It presents Rogers' theory and its fundamental concepts in the different stages of the work of Rogers. Finally, it presents some possible approaches between the Person Centered Study and some phenomenological philosophers, been chosen Husserl, Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, as they have been presented by some brazilian scholars. The work search to clarify the possibilities of continuing the Person Centered Approach by those relations, pointing to the direction of the construction of something so new that it cannot be aligned with the Person Centered Study.
