Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the practice of psychologist in hospital context considering the hermeneutical-philosophical foundations of health proposed by the German philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer. Psychological activities in hospital, at present, has required an understanding of healthcare phenomena beyond the physical, biological aspects of human beings, so focused on action based on scientific parameters of curative medical perspective, covering issues related to existentialism subjects from a perspective that points to the totality of being. In this sense, philosophical hermeneutics founded by the philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer from Verdade e método, provides a major contribution to establishing an understanding of human phenomena in counterpoint to scientism and, consequently, directing a critique of modern scientific rationality. In his collection of texts entitled O caráter oculto da saúde, Gadamer reflects on the phenomena of health and disease in a human perspective, historical, ontological, existential, dialogical, contributing to reflections that may guide a psychological better based practice.
