MACIEL, Tania Maria de Freitas Barros  and  ALVES, Monalisa Barbosa. The importance of community psychology in sustainable development. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.2, pp. 272-282. ISSN 1809-8908.

This article discusses the importance of Community Social Psychology for Sustainable Development. In this regard, we plan to invest mainly in discussions on the contributions of the Community Social Psychology to the search for original and sustainable alternatives of development. One of the major challenges which we currently face when we work with the stakeholders is to propose original alternatives of development aimed at human and social sustainability. The Brazilian Community Social Psychology has a lot to contribute to this debate, both with research on leisure, sustainability, and development, and by developing solutions to major urban problems. However, the importance of Social Community Psychology within the context of Sustainable Development is to point out discussions and operative tools in the search for an alternative of development which is more appropriate to the local reality, adding to the social dynamics of fate the importance of the subject as a transformer of their own reality. This reality is more human, ethical, and sustainable.
