CASTANHO, Marisa Irene Siqueira  y  ZORZIM, Terezinha José Inácio. Internet, consumer culture and young people's subjectivity. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.1, pp. 36-53. ISSN 1809-8908.

This article aims to present the results of a research on the influence of the means of communication - the internet - in the subjectivity building of young university students aged 18-29 years. The contents and expressions used by these young people in questionnaires and in a focus group modality space where analyzed. The results present a profile of young users of cell phones and their applications as media; their usages and experiences with the appeals of technologies and new media point out a reality that contrasts two worlds, the "real" and the "virtual" one; such ambivalences are not denied by the participants, once these young people realize that they are influenced by the media in their daily lives and in their relationships and consuming habits. At the same time, they state that they are not totally subjected to the consumer appeals of the media, but emphasize that it is not possible to envisage a world without internet.

Palabras clave : psychosocial processes; subjectivity; college students.
