Abstract

BORDIGNON, Cristina  and  BONAMIGO, Irme Salete. The young and virtual social networks. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp. 310-326. ISSN 1809-8908.

This article analyzes the implications of virtual social networks in the configuration of relationships among young people in the municipality of São Lourenço do Oeste (SC). It is based on cartographic research with young Lourencians, through a virtual focus group and documentary research on the Facebook platform. The contact with this group allowed to know the advantages and the disadvantages that the young people surveyed attribute to the adhesion to the virtual social networks. It was observed that young people, through virtual social networks, are invited to make their intimacies public. It was noted that this digital medium also encourages young people to be more dynamic and agile, for encouraging them to do several things simultaneously, provoking new forms of human interaction. It is concluded that virtual social networks can contribute to the homogenization of subjectivities, by unifying modes of being, thinking, feeling and perceiving. However, they may also imply the production of singular subjectivities, engendering unprecedented ways of living.
