Abstract
BORGES, Claudia Daiana; OMORE, Carmen Leontina Ojeda Ocampo; KRENKEL, Scheila and SCHNEIDER, Daniela Ribeiro. Family, social networks and drug use: tensioning between risk and protection. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp. 405-421. ISSN 1809-8908.
This study aimed to carry out a systematic review of national and international articles published between the years 2004 and 2015 on the relationship between family, social networks and drug use. Four databases were accessed: Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, Scielo and PscInfo, with the descriptors "social AND networks"; "Family" and "drugs." Of a total of 234 articles found, 17 directly addressed the themes of this study and constitute the corpus of analysis. Results suggest that: a) the social network tends to be restricted among drug users, b) in the social network there are members who also use drugs, and c) networks made up of family members tend to be protective to avoid the use /drugs abuse. It is highlighted that social and / or community context decisively influences the composition and functions of the social network constituted around drug users, as a potential risk or protection factor.
