Abstract

SOUSA, Caroline Cristiane  and  BERNARDO, Marcia Hespanhol. Landless with land: Everyday resistance in the settlement of Araras-SP. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp. 453-465. ISSN 1809-8908.

This paper wishes to contribute with the debate about the social struggles for land and with the discussions about the centrality of the rural social movements, bringing elements of a doctoral research conducted in a settlement located in Araras city, São Paulo, Brazil. In this article, an excerpt of this research will be presented, emphasizing the discussion about the possibilities of everyday resistance encountered in this context. This study was conducted by the ethnographic method and the analysis of information collected in the field is grounded on the Community Psychology theoretical assumptions. The research results indicate that collective articulation processes are central for the productive organization and are the main element to keep the settlers in the land. Therefore, the strengthening of these two spheres - the productive organization and social organization - is determinant for the settlement prosperity and for maintaining this collective of settlers in their plots of land.
