The present research sought to investigate mothers' perceptions regarding their relationships with their adolescent children and how they evaluate the relationship between the children and the father in a family context in which the children were exposed to the violence situation of the father against the mother. Five women, mothers of adolescents between 12 and 17 years old, who have been / were in a situation of violence were interviewed. Considering the participants' reports, it was verified that both the mother-child dyad and the father-child dyad are affected by the violence experienced in the family. However, the relationship of the sons and daughters with the father was considered to be more negatively affected, and was described by the mothers as distant and conflicting. It is believed that, in the future, access to the reports of adolescents and parents may contribute to a better analysis of these relationships and to propose interventions in these cases.
