Abstract

SOUZA, Maira Ribeiro de  and  PERUCCHI, Juliana. "the periphery invades the center": an analysis of the urban space appropriation by poor young people. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.3, pp. 1-16. ISSN 1809-8908.

The present article deals with conflicts arising from the appropriation of the central space by poor young people from a medium sized city in the Zona da Mata Mineira. This, based on the participation in a project accomplished by a non-governmental organization in which rap battles are developed. The analyzes were constructed from the observations recorded in field diary, a focal group developed with five young people and two semi-structured interviews: one individual conducted with the organizer of the battle and the other in double developed with two young collaborators. For the data analysis, it was used Discourse Analysis from Foucault. Through the study, it was possible to find the presence of two main conflicts: the relationship with the city hall and with the center residents. In this context, it was identified different positions of the interlocutors about the experienced conflicts that points both for possibilities of resistance and for the incorporation of the dominant discourses.
