Abstract

MONTEIRO, Rodrigo Padrini; ARAUJO, José Newton Garcia de  and  MOREIRA, Maria Ignez Costa. You, housewife: work, health and subjectivity in domestic space. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.4, pp. 1-14. ISSN 1809-8908.

The housework, remunerated or not, has been historically attributed to women, arising as a specific task of the feminine gender role and taking on a character of invisibility and social devaluation. In this article, we suggest an analysis bias that considers the activity beyond it's economic institutionalization, as a practical and psychic action, focus of vital investments and transformation of oneself and the world. Through the literature review, we show that domestic work presents contours of submission and remains linked to women. We discuss work as an institution, which can be constructed and deconstructed, and we relate the housework to the rejected activities that remain behind the scenes, also leading to their loss of meaning according to the perspectives of the work clinics.

Keywords : Domestic work; Gender division of labor; Work Clinics.
