SILVEIRA, Bettieli Barboza da; KUHNEN, Ariane  e  FELIPPE, Maíra Longhinotti. Portraits of a custodial hospital: the green spaces and their relation with the psychophysiological restoration from stress. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.4, pp.1-16. ISSN 1809-8908.

The proposal to investigate and encourage the use of green spaces in custodial hospitals acts as a healthy alternative to human beings who experience this type of environment. This is a work line opposed to the concept of confinement, congruent with theories that deal with the importance of natural elements for health and stress restoration. In this sense, we sought to identify how green spaces can contribute to psychophysiological restoration from stress in a custodial hospital. Therefore, the Environmental Photography technique in association with semi-structured interviews was applied. It was sought to understand the specificities captured through the photographs, discussing them based on the assumptions and the literature of the Person-Environment Studies. Twelve participants portrayed different places, perceptions and feelings in response to the proposed questions. It was verified that natural environments and landscapes stood out as to the beneficial potential to health, as well as in stress reduction.
